Justice Served: FEL Negotiates Seven-Figure Settlement in Race and Disability Discrimination Case

I’m proud to share a recent victory our firm achieved on behalf of a client who faced unjust and unlawful treatment in the workplace. We secured a seven-figure settlement in a case involving both race discrimination and disability discrimination, sending a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated under the law.

Our client was subjected to a hostile work environment rooted in racial bias. The situation escalated when he informed his employer that his physician was recommending medical leave due to health issues. Within 35 minutes of disclosing this information, he was terminated.

This swift termination not only violated the Fair Employment and Housing Act, but also reflected a broader pattern of discriminatory treatment based on race. Through determined litigation and careful case strategy, we held the employer accountable and achieved a resolution that will help our client move forward and recover from the trauma he endured.

This case is a reminder that employers must uphold their legal obligations to provide equal opportunity, reasonable accommodations, and a workplace free from racial harassment. It also underscores the critical role that attorneys play in standing up for those whose rights are violated.
